Inventive Portable Speakers to Watch Out for on 2016
Thodio iBOX and iBOX XC
Topping our Portable Speakers Reviews list for this week are the iBOX and iBOX XC portable speakers from Thodio. Although these speakers may be a bit pricey at $799-$899, you won’t regret splurging a bit because the sound performance lives up to the jaw-dropping price tag. Meticulously forged out of bamboo, the iBOX and iBOX XC is available in different styles and shades, namely the Side Pressed Caramel Bamboo, Exotic High-Density Tiger Stripe Bamboo, Chocolate Bamboo and Natural Bamboo. Likewise, the portable speakers have a smoother finish and are capable of producing higher density and better sound quality. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, the speakers measure 43 x 27 x 28cm and weigh 8.6-10.4 kilos. They also contain an automatic charger that can also be a permanent power supply, as well as an integrated rechargeable battery that lasts up to 12 hours or 48 hours when upgraded. This means unlimited music and pure audio bliss! We played different tracks with the iBOX and iBOX XC portable speakers and every song was a dynamic and fulfilling experience for our ears. The bass was perfection and the audio was crystal clear.

Philips Fidelio SoundRing Portable Airplay Speaker
Next on our list is the Philips Fidelio SoundRing. As an airplay speaker, it allows the streaming of music from any iOS device, along with Mac, Apple TV and other devices supporting iTunes. Design-wise, this portable speaker is shaped like a doughnut, has control buttons at the top part, and sits comfortably on a charging dock. The dock charges the speaker’s built-in rechargeable battery while music is being played. When fully charged, you can take the speaker from the dock and carry it with you to the kitchen, patio or to your room. It also contains an auxiliary input at the back, thus enabling you to plug any audio device into the audio cable, as well as a USB port so you can charge your phone. For the features, this portable speaker comes with a Free iPhone app and a DockStudio to tweak the bass and treble.
Sound-wise, this stylish portable Bluetooth speaker produced excellent audio and uncompressed music. At 16 watts, the Fidelio SoundRing delighted us with the big bass along with the clear and crisp audio, but we were blown away by the 360° surround sound effect that the speaker projected. The only downside to the Philips Fidelio portable speaker is that it only plays up to 3 hours when fully charged. As such, this is the type of Bluetooth speaker you can enjoy indoors—perhaps when the rain is pouring hard and you want to have a private party to yourself or your loved ones.
iFox iF012 Bluetooth Shower Speaker
For a more compact portable speaker you can take with you wherever you want, the iFox iF012 Bluetooth Shower Speaker is perfect for you! When our Portable Speakers Reviews crew first got our hands on the iFox iF012, the first thing we noticed was its sleek design and the Carabiner clip attached to it. The clip allows the Bluetooth speaker to be fastened to your bag, purse, on the showerhead and take it with you on your outdoor adventures like road trips and camping.
Despite its size, this portable speaker from iFox exhibits rich, loud and amazing audio, 33 ft Bluetooth range and 3-watts of clarity that blends different music styles in beautiful cohesion. The control buttons can be used for multiple purposes. The play/pause button can be used to answer phone calls, the next button can be used to increase volume and switch between Bluetooth, TF card, FM Radio, AUX and USB stick mode, and the switch for decreasing volume can also be used to return to the previous song played. We indulged ourselves with over 6 hours of our favorite podcasts and songs, and the speaker’s battery only required up to 2-3 hours to get fully charged. Similar to other portable Bluetooth speaker devices, you can also use the iFox iF012 as a speaker phone. This amazing portable speaker is compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android and PC.
