If you wonder what the changes, improvements, or extra features are, you are in the right place to know. Our team has gotten the chance to review this portable wireless speaker by Bose and we want to share it to all you music enthusiasts/audiophiles out there.
The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III, compared to its previous models, has a larger build, newer design, an improved and longer battery life, as well as louder and great sound quality. To know more about it, read more of our review of the Bose SoundLink III’s performance, design, and connectivity below.
Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III – Performance
According to Bose, the SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III produces louder and better sound than the ones they have introduced before, like its predecessors. The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III, which is compact and really portable, performs really well which is very surprising for us. For any compact portable wireless speakers, many, including us, believe that a feature will be reduced to its quality to conform to its build and design. This means that sound quality is a feature that may be compromised when it comes to smaller-sized portable wireless speakers. For this Bose wireless speaker, the sound quality is pretty impressive considering its size.
The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III is built with four neodymium transducers and dual-opposing passive radiators which help in creating digital signal processing algorithm and better electronics. With this, the sound is louder while having detailed and natural sound even if used with higher volume levels.
If you would want to know, this Bose wireless speaker is priced at $299.00, which is quite of a pricey product from Bose. But it doesn’t mean that it is not a worthy of a portable wireless speaker to purchase. Actually, the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III has a great sound quality that also feels premium. The sound it delivers is really clean and crisp that even if cranked up to a higher volume does not get distorted. The vocals heard from the streaming music we tested are good, detailed, and natural. The bass is also impressive because it is now stronger and fuller than its previous models.
When it comes to power, the Bose SoundLink III has a rechargeable battery that lasts double its life than the SoundLink II. With the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III, it can last up to 14 hours of battery life which is already satisfying for our use. Although there’s one thing that turns us off, it comes with an AC adaptor to recharge itself. We all know that USB or micro-USB are the most common charging cables used to any devices nowadays. This means that an AC adaptor is quite not convenient to use especially if you will bring it outdoors or lost it (which will require you to buy a new one rather than a micro-USB cable that when lost can be replaced with another common micro-USB from your other devices.)
Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III – Design
Bose stays to its products’ design of being simple or minimalistic. The design of the Bouse SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III reflects with it.
The Bose SoundLink III, compared to the SoundLink III, is slightly larger measuring 5.2 x 10.1 x 1.9 inches and weighs 3 pounds. We liked the design of this Bose wireless speaker. It is simple yet very sleek, modern, and elegant. Add to its customizability is an optional cover that you can use to add color and protection for your Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III. Although take note that the cover should be purchased separately.
In front of the speaker is where the speaker grille and the Bose logo are found. On top of it is where the buttons for power on/off, Bluetooth pairing, Aux connectivity option, mute, and volume controls are placed. What we noticed again with its controls or functions is the loss of play/paus and skip forward/backward buttons which is for some very inconvenient when it comes to having full control of their tracks. With this, all you can do is make use of your Bluetooth device to control them. While at the back, you will find the ports for Aux input (3.5mm cable is not provided), micro-USB input (that is only used for future firmware updates and not for charging), and the port for the AC adaptor.
Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III – Connectivity
When it comes to connectivity, you can make use of the Bose SoundLink III via Bluetooth or Auxillary input.
No NFC is available with this portable wireless speaker but it is not a problem for us because the Bluetooth connectivity of it is very convenient and functional. When connecting with this Bose wireless speaker, just press the Bluetooth pairing button then pair your Bluetooth device easily. For your next use, your device is instantly paired because it can keep your device’s connection to its memory. If you prefer using Aux input to stream music, you can do so. Although you need to provide your own 3.5mm cable to use it.
If you’re looking for a speakerphone capability, then sorry for now. The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker still doesn’t have a built-in microphone that can allow hands-free or wireless phone calls.
