What makes a tower speaker stand out among others is its ability to attract audiophile with its effortless design, convenient setup, and superb performance. One tower speaker to consider when you’re looking for these features is the ELAC Uni-Fi- UF5ELAC Uni-Fi UF5.

Crafted by known speaker designer, Andrew Jones, the new ELAC Uni-Fi UF5 is a beautiful and much better follow up on the Elac and Pioneer speakers. The UF5 is a combination of the first UB5 bookshelf speakers and the Elac Debut. If you have known the latter two to be a great performing bookshelf speaker, then what’s more with the ELAC Uni-Fi- UF5? This one is a good option for you.

Tower speakers are absolutely a nice addition to your house, especially if you have a decently sized living area. Another reason that makes tower speakers an added value to your house is if each has a beautiful aesthetic or design.

The ELAC Uni-Fi UF5 is designed to be 38 inches high x 10 inches deep x 8 inches wide, enclosing the three 5.25-inch aluminum woofers, the 1-inch soft dome tweeter, and the 4-inch aluminum midrange driver.

Since tower speakers are prone to rocking, ELAC has a way to solve that. In order to enable stability with the tower speakers, the UF5 is built with a set of screw-on feet with carpet-piercing spikes. In addition to that, it also has some extra binding posts that work with thick cables on different connectors.

The build quality of the UF5 is good as well. Same with the previous Elac speakers, the covering of the new tower speakers is also made from vinyl.

However, if the UF5 does not please you, take note that Elac is also making a slim version of this bookshelf speakers which will come in white painted finish and satin black finish. Aside from an extra $400 cost, the dimension will only be the changes with the thinner, slim version so don’t worry about the internal changes because they will all remain the same.

Setting up the ELAC Uni-Fi UF5

As mentioned, the ELAC Uni-Fi UF5 is integrated with a set of screw-on feet with carpet-piercing spikes in order to ensure stability. As much as we expected it to be a much complicated process, well it turned out to be easy and convenient.

Take note as well that on its rear panel, the UF5 bookshelf speakers comes with two (2) ports so avoid positioning them or attaching them near the wall or corner. Give the bookshelf speakers a little distance from the wall or corner in order for you to enable connections.

How does it sound?

For a pair of the ELAC Uni-Fi UF5, you can have them at a price of $1000. For some, this price tag may be surprising but consider the return you are receiving for such. Aside from the nice design, the UF5 also offers great sound performance.

Once getting the bookshelf speakers tested, we first noticed how the sound was finely detailed and balanced. All of the treble, bass, and midrange were beautifully synchronized, having everyone do their part well and not dominate each other. The sound performance of the UF5 is absolutely immersive, which allows you to think that all the sound or the music you are playing it with is produced naturally.

Aside from that, the sound from the ELAC Uni-Fi UF5 is very strong. Even in high volume levels, it has proven worthy of powerful sound without having issues on quality and distortions. Add to the volume quality is the bass response which is by far, in our observation, considered as one of the best bass-performing tower speakers we have tested.

What’s our conclusion?

Three thumbs up to the ELAC Uni-Fi UF5 for its great, very considerable features. We were truly impressed with how this tower speaker has delivered amazing sound performance. Aside from that, what makes the UF5 better than its previous models is its design and functionality, adding much better value than ever before. Truly, the ELAC Uni-Fi UF5 is one of a bang for the buck; it is a tower speaker with great value and return to your pocket, even having to spend $1000 for it.
