When you ask for portable speakers that have great sound quality, design, and other features, one brand that will never be gone in the list is JBL. JBL speakers are proven by many audiophiles to be an excellent performer when it comes to delivering best features in a portable wireless speaker. Many of JBL speakers had been reviewed by our team and so far these portable wireless speakers satisfied our taste for performance, design, and connectivity features including the JBL Pulse, JBL Clip+, JBL Flip 2, and others.
One portable wireless speaker that JBL offers now to the market is their pocket-size, JBL Micro II Ultra Portable Multimedia Speaker.
JBL Micro II Ultra-Portable Multimedia Speaker – Performance
Before letting you know of the sound quality of the JBL Micro II Ultra-Portable Speaker, take note that this portable wireless speaker is tiny and produces sound from a single driver. If you’re expecting for loud and full stereo surround sound to come out from this JBL speaker, then your expectation must be really high. Remember that this is a tiny, micro portable wireless speaker which means that it produces the best distinct sound quality it can for its size.
For its sound quality, the JBL Micro II delivers decent audio considering its compact build and design. We tested this pocket-size wireless speaker with tracks by Alabama Shakes like “Don’t Wanna Fight” and “Dunes” and we were really at the moment of keeping these tracks playing. The treble coming out from this ultra-portable wireless speaker is really clear and light.
Aside from decent sound quality, the bass that the JBL Micro II produces is powerful and strong. Surprised as we are to get this quality of bass for a small speaker, we think this is one thing JBL wants us to get. The bass is really impressive and really adds up to the treble the JBL Micro II produces. For a night party in your small living room, one portable speaker you can use is this. If you prefer more powerful and louder sound and bass, we suggest you having more than one JBL Micro II to do the job. All you need to do is connect it through its 3.5mm cable and Aux input.
How about is battery performance? On a single full charge, the JBL Micro II can get the party going for up to 5 hours. Of course, battery life still varies depending on how you use this ultra-portable wireless speaker such as the volume level you use it with.
JBL Micro II Ultra-Portable Multimedia Speaker – Design
The design? We think JBL went with a minimalistic design with this one. If you look at the JBL Micro II, you will actually see how compact and simple it really is. This portable wireless speaker is also very small that it actually fits in the palm of our hands. The perks of this one also is that you can carry it around with you anywhere because it’s very portable and really lightweight.
What’s simpler looks more beautiful. This ultra-portable wireless speaker by JBL is something you can really be proud to show off to your friends. It is designed in a circular form which is made of a combination of polycarbonate and metal (especially in the front and side). The JBL Micro II Ultra-Portable Multimedia Speaker is made with a single 40mm driver that helps it produce great sound.
In addition to design, the JBL Micro II features a LED light that serves as an indicator for power, Bluetooth connectivity status, or charging mode. The LED light can be seen inside the speaker grille. Aside from that, there are a set of controls and functions included in the JBL Micro II. This includes the Power On/Off button, volume rocker, Aux input, as well as Micro-USB port for charging, all of which are found on the side of the JBL Micro II. If you flip this ultra-portable wireless speaker, you can see the 3.5mm cable which is attached to the rubber grip-made bottom part. What’s great for the rubber grip on the bottom of this portable speaker is that it helps you grip to it easily and firmly as well as helps the speaker be intact on a surface while playing music, especially the bass intensive ones.
JBL Micro II Ultra-Portable Multimedia Speaker – Connectivity
You can connect the JBL Micro II Ultra-Portable Multimedia Speaker on two options, either wireless or wired. If you have devices that supports wireless connections, especially Bluetooth, then setting up and pairing it would be fast and easy. If you prefer wired or you have non-Bluetooth devices, then you can easily connect the JBL Micro II via its 3.5mm cable nestled on the bottom of the speaker.
One feature that is missing though is its speakerphone capability. It doesn’t have a built-in microphone to enable hands-free calls. Yes, it’s a small portable speaker, something to consider, but that would be a feature many would be looking for and the JBL Micro II doesn’t have it.
